Appetite Suppressants & Other Prescription Weight Loss Medications

Options Medical Weight Loss clinic is proud to prescribe a variety of FDA-approved appetite suppressants and other weight loss medications. With 2 out of 3 adults overweight and 1 out of 3 adults obese, the need for weight loss intervention is great. Weight loss medication can make it easier to follow your healthy diet changes and lose weight!

Options prescription weight loss medications can be taken in conjunction with one of our weight loss programs, or on their own. Our OptiMed line is designed for healthy weight loss and to help control appetite, for short-term and long-term weight management. Options weight loss medications require a prescription from our medical providers. For best results, we recommend taking OptiMeds while following an Options weight loss program and working with one of our weight loss health coaches.

What Prescription Weight Loss Medications Does Options Use?

Research has shown that patients using GLP-1s (glucagon-like peptide 1s) can lose between 15% and 20% of their bodyweight. This medication works on key underlying metabolic pathways which makes it different from other weight loss medications (like phentermine). The medication mimics natural hormones in the human body and helps suppress appetite, in addition to stabilizing blood glucose levels.

Phentimate combines the FDA-approved appetite suppressant phentermine with topiramate to offer patients long-term appetite control. Phentermine stimulates the hypothalamus gland and affects certain neurotransmitters to decrease appetite. The addition of topiramate increases the efficiency and success rate of phentermine, while methylcobalamin helps with absorption and to increase energy levels. While taking Phentimate, appetite control can be extended throughout the day and offer patients better satiety to decrease their calorie intake. Phentimate is ideal for those looking for long-term weight management. Phentimate is unique to Options Medical Weight Loss and was developed by Options’ Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Katrina Mattingly.

ProNovis works to control appetite by combining bupropion and naltrexone. Bupropion is an antidepressant medicine that can also decrease appetite. Naltrexone is typically given to block the effects of opioids or alcohol in people with addiction, while also curbing hunger and food cravings. ProNovis may be ideal for you if you are currently prescribed stimulant-based medications and do not meet the criteria for phentermine. If you are currently taking medication for anxiety or depression, ProNovis may act to treat anxiety/depression while decreasing appetite. Talk to our medical provider to see if ProNovis is right for you. ProNovis is unique to Options Medical Weight Loss and was developed by Options’ Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Katrina Mattingly.
